Original. Trailblazer. Icon. These words barely scratch the surface on describing the illustrious career of Elissa Steamer. Getting her start in Ft. Myers, Florida, Elissa grew up skating with other Florida legends like Allen Russell and Matt Milligan. After her standout part in Toy Machine’s “Welcome To Hell” video in 1996, the world quickly realized that Elissa was much more than a female skater tagging along with her male friends. What followed is an incredible 25+ year run accentuated by more video parts, a pro model shoe, and an impressive run of first place finishes at every contest she entered from 1998-2006. She was even featured as a playable character in the first five installments of the “Tony Hawk Pro Skater” video game franchise. After three decades of pounding the pavement, you would think Elissa would be happy with the body of work she has presented to the world. She had no problem putting that notion to rest with a new part in “Baker Has A Deathwish Part 2” and an accompanying cover of Thrasher Magazine, which only added to the legacy of this 2015 Skateboarding Hall of Fame inductee. When Elissa isn’t skating or running her clothing brand Gnarhunters, she loves surfing and hanging out at her house in San Francisco with her fiance and two dogs.
